What i did while i began using ubuntu was:
1)Googled for "MiniTool Partition Wizard Pro" torrent and downloaded and installed it in XP. 2) Learned a bit abt changing/resizing/creating/delating partition but the main thing to learn was resizing the existing partition 'OTHER THAN C Drive'.
3) Created a 5 gb and another 2 gb partition by reducing one of the existing partitions.
4) Made a bootable pendrive of ubuntu using Univarsal USB Installer and installed on the 5 bg partion by formatting it in ext4 file system and making the 2 gb partition the swap.

When you say 6 drives I assume you mean 6 partitions right? And when you say you installed Ubuntu an a formated drive inside Windows do you mean wubi install? what format are you using? NTFS? FAT16? You maybe better off deleting one of the partitions and using the free space to install Ubuntu as a dual boot. Why are you trying to install Ubuntu on a Windows formated drive?

how should i installed ubuntu , by boot menu, or by wubi installer when windows is running ..... or if i delete a drive, will the free space be added with c drive..... do i need to shrink drive .... or something else ??

I personally only install Ubuntu through the Live CD installer. If I want to mess with partitions I use the gparted program on the Live CD under System/ Administrator tab. When you use the installer you can choose a side by side install or choose the partition you select. If you choose the later you will also have to create a swap drive and make your partition bootable and give it "/" root. It's for more advanced users so you need to know a little about partitions. What always suggest to people is a side by side install but seeing as you have your drive cut up into so many partitions it would be nice to see exactly what you have there. You can open up gparted and then take a screen shot from your live cd and post it here. It might be easier to determine the best advice that way. Anyone on here will help you.
      Cheers
