Only if the movie was one hour longer, both the characters would’ve established better and in more detailed way. Only problem was we don’t know neither Harry nor Sejal properly. And, this one single problem made the whole movie experience very very very and very sad! I’ve immense trust on Imtiaz Ali because I know him. I’ve known him by his previous movies.So I was been able to peek the things he wanna tell/convey with Jab Harry Met Sejal but not everybody have that ability or even time to do so. Only if they (Harry and Sejal) were established in a bit detailed way everybody could know and feel the pain, happiness, love and all they were going through.

Two times I was remembering his previous two films;
Sejal was Geet from Jab We Met. Accent was different but she was her in those initial scenes when she is talking with Harry about ‘helping her to find the ring’ and few more scenes. I have to watch the movie again to pinpoint in which scene and how exactly I felt so. Oh almost forgot, Sejal was Veera from Highway too when she said to Harry, “you can tell me. As long as I’m with you, you can share every bit of your feeling with me. I’m here with you.”

And, Harry was Jay from Love Aaj Kal when he was in confusion of either go to her marriage or not. It was probably a monologue(self talk). Need to watch the movie again to confirm/tell how exactly I felt so.

Oh yea, I can watch this movie tens of times because it’s Imtiaz Ali. Every time I watch I find something new and if not then discover more; of the characters and people and even myself. Even if I be able to see through all layers I can watch the movie once in every six months or a year.

This man, oh boy! Imtiaz Ali really pours his heart out with every movie he makes. And with every movie I know him better and closely. That is why I have fallen in love with him. There is a personal side of it too, I’ve written my first movie script with reference to the script of Jab We Met. Hence he is my Guru also.

Jab Harry Met Sejal;
I want to know Harry a bit closely. Why he is seeing those mustard fields (sarso ke khet)? Yea, obviously because he is missing home and family; the root where he belongs. But I wanna know why he misses so badly? This too is because he has a deep emotional connection to the place, family and all. And this is what I wanted to see/know of him ‘in screen’. Because I know Imtiaz I could feel and see few bits of those connection and pain but it’s a visual medium which has the potential to reach a broader mass. And if we be able to present our characters and story in a in open and detailed way, we would be able to convey the thing or make people understand what we actually are trying to tell.

Why is Sejal so? Why she cares for a lonely and innocent soul? Who is she? How she sees things, people, family, society? What is the backstory or incidents or phase or the environment that made her so caring? She cares for him and eventually fall in love because she has been able to peek into that man’s  heart, I know that. But how could she been able to see all those? Who is she actually? There was three of her: initial Geet vibed Sejal, later caring Sejal and lastly the one who fell in love with Harry. What is the story/characteristics of that girl that made her travel through these phases??

And lastly, my Guru Dear Imtiaz,
this is not true, the one I seek is not seeking me. If it means everybody is seeking for their soulmates then it’s obvious. But if you wanted to tell that eventually we find the one we are always seeking then you are wrong dear sir. It’s not true in both sense, either of loved ones/people or the dream we have. Not always sir, not everyone.

Thank you very much dear Imtiaz for Jab Harry Met Sejal. Will watch it again when it comes in DVD and after that probably few or I don’t know, many more times. And if I be able to see things, will write about them, again.

Love AajKal is the best movie you’ve made dear sir. “Tarike badal gaye honge par pyar to hai”. Thank you very much for that.

Rockstar is a great movie. I’m currently fighting for a decent earning/living. When I be able to see beyond what to eat next or how to manage money if and when my parents get sick, I would be able to connect to the story more.

I enjoyed both Jab We Met and Socha Na Tha. I find myself watching both these movies sometimes.

Highway and Tamasha –both these are beyond cinema. People who be able to see things would get what Highway and Tamasha are saying. Others just don’t find the story relevant and even feel unnecessary and hate them. This is how it is. Can not thank you enough for Highway and Tamasha. I’m always crying and cheering with Veera and currently becoming a Ved, the later one J
